Staff Writer 2016 is a critical year for our country. The citizens will need to make a decision based on how they want our country to look in the future. The future of America lies in the hands of voters, and how they want the future of America to look like. “That's the good thing about being president, I can do whatever I want,” said President Obama. Three republicans are in the race: Donald Trump who wants to build a wall, ban muslim immigration, and lower taxes. John Kasich who wants to balance the budget and grow the economy. Ted Cruz who wants to lower taxes for everyone, protect the constitution, and repeal Obamacare. The republican nominee will be Donald Trump. “That's one of the nice things. I mean, part of the beauty of me is that I'm very rich. So if I need $600 million, I can put $600 million myself. That's a huge advantage. I must tell you, that's a huge advantage over the other candidates,” explained Trump. Two democrats are in the race: Hillary Clinton who wants to implement Australia-like gun control and destroy the wage gap. The other democrat Bernie Sanders wants to give people free college, healthcare, and raise taxes on the rich up to 52%. The democratic nominee will be Hillary Clinton. “People can judge me for what I've done. And I think when somebody's out in the public eye, that's what they do. So I'm fully comfortable with who I am, what I stand for, and what I've always stood for,” said Clinton. In the past eight years we have needed to recover from the great recession, but some things have gotten worse. Poverty rates have gone up as well as home ownership going down. Debt rates have also gone up in recent years, and the price of health care is way up. The race for the White House will be extremely close, and that is all anyone can guarantee. The race will come to key states like Ohio, New Mexico, Colorado, and Florida. Trump will have to rely on key southern states whereas Clinton needs to rely on the west coast and the northeast. No matter what happens America's future depends on who shows up to vote, and who stays home. Comments are closed.
