Staff Writer On February 1 there was a caucus in Iowa between each of the Republican candidates and each of the Democratic candidates. But who won? Hillary Clinton won against Bernie Sanders in the Iowa democratic Caucus. Though by a very thin margin of 0.3 percent. This means that there is an almost even amount of democrats voting for Clinton and Sanders. ”The Iowa Democratic Party has declared Hillary Clinton the winner of the 2016 Democratic caucuses.” said Douglas Perry of the Oregonian. Ted Cruz won against Donald Trump and Marco Rubio in the Iowa Republican Caucus, even though most people expected Donald Trump to win because of his past lead. ”In a night of surprises, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz rode a wave of strong Evangelical support to a victory over national front-runner Donald Trump in the GOP's Iowa caucuses, according to NBC News.” said Everett Rosenfeld of CNBC. There was another unexpected happening. Marco Rubio got closer to the same percentage of voters as Donald Trump than most people expected, the former having been previously quite a few points behind the other two major candidates.
